The 2011 Weston Carnival 2011 arrives tonight

The annual Weston-super-Mare Carnival will be taking place this evening, Monday 14th November 2011.

The route commences at Tesco’s car park on Locking Road at 7.15pm heading around Alexandra Parade before a left turn into Alfred Street. Then along The Boulevard, Wateloo Street and South Parade (ace viewing spot at Unwined Wine Bar) through onto the seafront and Royal Parade. Once past the Grand Pier and Weston Wheel the processions will turn left onto Beach Road and then a right onto Carlton Street finishing at the junction with Station Road. The procession is expected to last 2 ½ hours. A map is shown below!

Additional parking is available on the Beach Lawns from 4pm as well as all the other car parks (aside from Locking Road!).

There are currently over 140 entries, a wonderful spectacle, and the organisers request that you help support the Weston-super-Mare Carnival in order to ensure its continuation in years to come. Please give generously to the team of dedicated collectors - and if you must buy a luminous necklace or balloon only buy it from traders wearing a yellow “WSM authorised trader” armband. These traders would have made a donation to sell at the carnival – the others are only out to make a fortune by robbing you of your hard earned cash for themselves!

Some words of advice and warning from the organisers, please pay heed!

Only purchase merchandise from traders with a yellow "WSM authorised trader armband".

Please do not stand outside the barriers.

Do not throw coins at the entries or let your children run out into the road and retrieve any coins.

Please make sure you keep your young children under control and refrain from viewing from the assembly area which is the Tesco’s car park.
